Racing Bikers Hold on to Your Wallets!
After two near-fatal crashes last year and the formation of a task force, the authorities dish out nearly 200 tickets to cyclists breaking the law.
If you’re a cyclist and you’re breaking the rules of the road in Prospect Park, expect to pay up.
During the past four months, greenspace cops patrolling the drives throughout the park issued 188 tickets to bikers breaking the law: running red lights, riding the wrong way and speeding, The Brooklyn Paper reported yesterday.
But during the same time last year, The Paper found, Parks Department officers issued not one summons to two wheelers.

“Cyclists need to know that a ticket is a very real possibility,” Prospect Park Alliance President Emily Lloyd told The Paper.

One biker at  in late Feb., where the was revealed, said that he will not stop for red lights while training in the park.
“I’ll gladly pay the ticket,” avid cyclist Michael Seltzer told Patch during the meeting, where community members commented on the Road Sharing Task Force's plan, which reduces two car lanes into one and gives more space to bikers and pedestrians.
