THE STOOP: Vinyl, A Nunchaku Handbook and Flight Simulation Controllers

Our weekly round up of Brooklyn stoop items.

It’s been a while since we went stoop-diving, but we have found a bunch of keepers.

First off, we found two great records that will certainly wear down your needle: “No Parking on the Dance Floor” by Midnight Star and “Ice Cream Castle” by The Time, two classics.

We also found a bunch of books that seem like interesting reads. The most badass paperback was, “Dynamic Nunchaku” by Tadashi Yamashita, a handbook about how to use nunchaku (or nunchucks in English). I can’t say that we have ever found a book that compares to this one. It can probably be found in Michelangelo's, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, library, so you know it's got to be good.

Tied with first for the best book found stoop-side was, “I Lost It at the Movies,” by Pauline Kael.

Two other interesting reads were, “The Culture of Death Row: The Last Face You’ll Ever See,” by Ivan Solotaroff and “The Hidden Face of Eve: Women in the Arab World,” by Nawal El Saadawi.

We had a strange find that we hope no one picked up: an old, used bra. It was hanging on a fence next to a blazer. Any takers?

Probably the best-overall find was a pair of flight simulation controllers for a PC pilot game. We found a CH Products Flight SIM Yoke (the steering wheel) and “pro pedals.”

CH Products was once considered the premiere manufacturer of high-end flight simulation controllers for PCs. They are quite authentic and are modeled after actual cockpit controllers.
