Plus, the Civic Council will use part of the funds raised to pay for four scholarships benefiting seniors graduating from the Secondary Schools at John Jay High School who have committed themselves to community service.

Joe Rydell, who chairs the scholarship committee, said that last year, $2,000 awards were given to students from Park Slope Collegiate, Secondary School for Law, Secondary School for Journalism and Millennium Brooklyn High School.

Rydell added that the Civic Council aims to increase the scholarship size by $250 per year.

Tickets, which are still on sale, are $75 for general admission, and $150 for a "delux" admission, which includes a printed tote containing gifts from local businesses.

Founded decades ago, the Civic Council has been involved in numerous community causes in Park Slope, including the years-long efforts to create and expand the Park Slope Historic District.
