PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A man pushing a shopping cart randomly kicked two young girls in the head as they rode the subway in Park Slope with their mother, police said.

The girls, ages 6 and 9, went to the hospital in stable condition after the attack late Tuesday as a train rolled into the Seventh Avenue station, authorities said.

The children had boarded a Q train inside the Atlantic Avenue station with their mother and young brother, 6, and were riding it south, NYPD officials said.

About 9:20 p.m., the family crossed paths with a man wearing dark clothing, pushing a shopping cart and acting erratically, police said. The man suddenly lashed out and kicked both girls in the head, authorities said.

He then exited the train at the Seventh Avenue station along Flatbush Avenue, and remains on the loose, police said.

The girls both complained of pain to their heads and were taken by medics to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition, authorities said.
