Union Hall Targets Mid-May Reopening After Devastating Fire

The Park Slope bar, which was "wrecked" after a fire last month, said it is "looking like mid-May" for a reopening.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Union Hall, the Park Slope bar and music venue that was "wrecked" by a fire last month, appears to be targeting the middle of May for its reopening.

In a Facebook post promoting concerts that were moved to other venues, the bar said it is "looking like mid-May at this moment" when repairs when will be done.

The bar seems confident enough in that date that it has advertisements up for upcoming events for that time frame — including a Facebook event for a story reading event on May 16 and a sign posted outside the front door for a "compliment contest" on May 20.

It would be an impressive turnaround for a bar that reportedly sustained some pretty serious damage in the March 24 fire. While no one was injured, the fire shut down the bar at least through April, and one of the musicians who performed the night of the blaze said the "Place is wrecked."

The fire started just before midnight on Friday, March 24, in the bar's cockloft, according to the FDNY. It was under control about a half hour later.
