The man and woman were pulled from the vehicle at around 5:20 a.m., Suffolk police said.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — An off-duty police officer on his morning commute to work and two good Samaritans pulled a pair of people out of a burning vehicle after a crash in Farmingville early Saturday morning, Suffolk police said.

A 45-year-old Coram woman was driving a 2014 Honda northbound on County Road 83, near South Bicycle Path, when it struck a guard rail and overturned at around 5:20 a.m., police said, adding that Officer Kevin Farina, who was on his commute to work at the 6th Precinct in Selden, saw the overturned vehicle and stopped to help.

Farina and two good Samaritans then pulled the woman, along with her passenger, a 41-year-old man from Coram, out of the Honda, police said.
