Water Vacuum Tanker Truck Crashes Into Wire On LIE In Upton: Suffolk Police

The eastbound center and median lanes o the LIE at Exit 68 Have been closed since 2 p.m., Suffolk police said.

UPTON, NY — A man driving a water vacuum tanker truck crashed into the wire and went through all eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway in Upton on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

The driver had been in the center lane of the LIE, near Exit 68, at around 1:40 p.m., when the front left tire failed, according to police. The truck then went into the left lane, across the median, crashed into the wire, and went through all eastbound lanes, riding the eastbound shoulder for a short distance before it came to a stop, police said.

The driver was not injured and no other vehicles were struck, according to police.
