Chestnut Ridge Fire Makes 20 People Homeless
Authorities said a dog was killed in the fire, but no humans were injured.
CHESTNUT RIDGE, NY — A fire in a Chestnut Ridge house Sunday night left at least 20 people without a home.
No one was injured in the blaze that began around 9:30 p.m., News 12 reported.
Town of Ramapo Police Department said everyone was about to get out of the house safely, however a dog was killed in the fire.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Ramapo Police Investigations Division with the assistance of the Rockland County Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Fire departments on the included South Spring Valley, Spring Valley, Monsey, Hillcrest, Tallman and Nanuet. Clarkstown police and Rockland County Sheriff’s Patrol also assisted at the scene, along with Rockland Paramedics, Faist EMS and Spring Hill EMS.

Ramapo police said, due to a rekindling of the house fire and related fire department operation, Old Nyack Turnpike is closed Monday morning in both directions from Chestnut Ridge Road to Fairview Avenue. Chestnut Ridge Road is closed in both directions from Old Nyack Turnpike to Alpine Court. Delays in that area should be expected.
