HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The pre-Thanksgiving storm that pounded much of the eastern United States is on its way out of our region (creating problems in New England for travelers and residents).

"The surprise of the day was that temperatures were several degrees colder than projected by computer guidance. That resulted in a couple hours of wet snow in places from Middletown, to Wallkill, to New Paltz, to Kingston," Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook in a recap of Wednesday's weather.

Now in the storm's wake, low temperatures are coming.

"Drastic weather changes are already on the way in the mid-Atlantic and will expand on Thanksgiving and Black Friday," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

While Wednesday highs will hit the 50s as we begin to dry out, Thanksgiving Day will be cooler. Then temps continue to drop. On Black Friday, highs might only be in the mid-40s. By Saturday, temps will struggle to get into the high 30s.
