First Niagara Supports Teen Dating Violence Prevention

The First Niagara Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the Center for Safety and Change.

The money is earmarked for the center's Teen Dating Violence Prevention (TDVPP) and Student Activists Ending Dating Abuse (SAEDA) programs. TDVPP provides workshops dealing with issues such as dating abuse and bullying at Rockland County High Schools such as this one at Pearl River High School

"The grant award will help us sere the community by expanding our Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program and Student Activist Ending Dating Abuse group so that we may continue to offer our programs focusing on dating violence and sexual assault prevention to more teens in Rockland County," said Center for Safety & Change Director of Education Laura Plotkin. "It is only with the support of our community businesses and organization working together that we will be able to end violence against women and children."

“A key focus area for our charitable giving is Youth and Education, and supporting programs that help young people lead healthy and productive lives,” said First Niagara Business Banking Team Leader Sara Tucker. “With this grant, we are pleased to support the Center for Safety & Change efforts to educate more than 3,000 high school students annually about the dangers of teen violence and how they can protect themselves.”
