Franklin Ave. Playground Committee Casino Night Cashes In

Over 200 people turned out for the Franklin Avenue Playground Committee's 2nd Casino Night fundraiser Saturday at the Nanuet Comfort Inn.

The committee once again had gaming tables, but attendees could also purchase bracelets with keys attached for a chance at a mystery box prize worth $800. Dr. Ed Fisher and Dr. Varsha Reddy of Children's Dentistry of the Palisades donated the prize, an iPad Mini with accessories.

Silent auction items included principal for the day at Franklin Ave. Elementary School and Senator for a day donated by State Sen. David Carlucci, There was also a 50/50 and a raffle for four tickets to the One Direction concert July 2.

Following the event, the committee announced that it had raised two thirds of the funds needed to build the new playground at Franklin Ave. Elementary School. The goal is to complete construction before the 2013-14 school year.

Upcoming fundraising events include:

• Mother's Day Plant Sale at Franklin Ave. Elementary May 9 and 10.
• Wrestling Night Fundraiser at Pearl River High School May 10.
• Bricks that will be used for the path from the playground to the 9/11 Memorial Garden at Franklin Ave are for sale through August. The cost is $100 per brick. The flier is attached to this report.
