Milder, Wetter Weekend In Store: Hudson Valley Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Rain is in the forecast Friday through Monday across the Hudson Valley, though some days will be wetter than others.

"The 8 day forecast tells the story. A brief warm up, some unsettled weather, and a couple of possibilities to observe additional snowflakes," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook.

Saturday has the best chance for the least rain, as the National Weather Service calls for a slight chance of light rain or drizzle in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange Counties. In Dutchess and Ulster, it'll just be partly cloudy, the NWS predicts.

Sunday could be wetter, with a 40 percent chance of rain in the daytime and increasing at night.

The cold temperatures will moderate, with Saturday in the low- to mid-50s and Sunday around 50 degrees F.

"As the flow of air flips from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, milder conditions will return, and temperatures will rebound to historical averages in much of the Midwest and Northeast into the weekend," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

Here's the 5-day forecast based on northern Westchester:

• Thursday - Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Tonight - Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly clear. Lows in the lower 30s. Southwest winds around 5 mph.
• Friday - Partly sunny in the morning, then cloudy with rain likely in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
• Friday Night - Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain in the evening, then a slight chance of light rain or drizzle after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s. Southwest winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Saturday - Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of light rain or drizzle. Highs in the lower 50s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
• Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy. A chance of light rain or drizzle after midnight. Lows in the lower 40s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Sunday - Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain. Highs in the lower 50s.
• Sunday Night - Rain likely. Lows in the upper 30s. Chance of rain 70 percent.
• Monday - Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Monday Night - Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain showers in the evening. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
