O&R Almost Finished Restoring Power Lost In Storm By 4,000+ Customers

For safety's sake, O&R warns the public not to touch or approach any downed wire.

PEARL RIVER, NY — Orange and Rockland Utilities company and overhead line contractors, tree removal experts and mutual aid field crews are repairing storm damage and restoring electric service to the remaining approximately 650 of the 4,342 customers whose power was knocked out Tuesday by snow that shrouded the region since the early morning hours.

For safety’s sake, O&R warns the public not to touch or approach any downed wire. Assume it is energized and dangerous. Call O&R immediately toll-free 1-877-434-4100. Depending on the situation, you may also consider calling your local police to divert traffic from the downed wire’s location until an O&R crew arrives.
