Orangetown Police Arrest Man in Pearl River After Early Morning Disturbance

George Chesmar of Pearl River scuffled with Orangetown Police Officers as they tried to enforce and Order of Protection against him.

Orangetown Police arrested George. M. Chesmar, 42, after an early-morning disturbance Thursday on Hunt Ave. in Pearl River.

According to police, Chesmar was creating a disturbance when they arrived in response to a noise complaint at 5:30 a.m. He had also threatened physical and sexual harm to a neighbor who has an active Order of Protection against him. 

Chesmar refused to comply when officers tried to enforce the order, leading to a brief struggle. Chesmar was subdued and arrested.

Chesmar was charged with Harrassment 2, Criminal Contempt 1 (a misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (a misdemeanor) and a violation of Orangetown's noise code and arraigned before Judge Patrick Loftus. Chesmar was released on his own recognizance with a court date April 22.
