Julia Sciortino scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Pearl River a 2-1 victory over Haverstraw Sunday in the 11/12-year-old Softball District 18 Tournament at South Orangetown.
Sciortino, who struck out 11 and gave up one run on five hits and two walks for the complete-game victory, singled with one out in the sixth and moved to third on a passed ball and a ground out. Julia Pozzuto drove in Pearl River's other run with an RBI single that scored Jess McDermott in the first.
Pearl River will face South Orangetown 7 p.m. Monday in the loser's bracket final, a rematch of South Orangetown's first-round victory Saturday.
