Pearl River Boys Basketball Falls to Spring Valley

Spring Valley won, 73-63, at Pearl River Saturday. The Pearl River girls won at home Saturday, beating Floral Park, 56-25.

Spring Valley ran its winning streak to 13 games with a 73-63 victory Saturday at Pearl River.

The Tigers (14-1) maintained their place among the top contenders in Section 1 Class AA with four players scoring in double figures -- Kai Mitchell (17 points), Ricky McGill (13), Davonte O'Neill (13) and Fern Durand (11). 

Junior forward Kevin Degnan led Pearl River with 22 points and 16 rebounds and sophomore guard Jack Byrnes contributed 13 points, making four 3-point shots.

Pearl River (9-7) will recognize its seniors before Monday's 6 p.m. home game against Hastings. The Pirates complete their regular season schedule 7 p.m. Friday at Nyack.

After the boys game, the Pearl River girls basketball team won at home, 56-25, over Floral Park to improve to 14-2 this season.
