Pearl River Elementary School Students Blow the House Down

Two elementary school groups showed off their acting skills during student presentations at the Pearl River Board of Education meeting Tuesday, performing classic stories, but each with a twist.

Teacher Christopher Moreno brought his students from Lincoln Ave. Elementary School to demonstrate Readers Theatre. With the help of school board members Thomas DePrisco and Bruce Bond, the students performed their own version of fairy tail "The Three Little Pigs," though their version tells the story from the point of view of the wolf.

Evans Park Elementary student Erin Higgins performed the same show, but as a solo act. She was part of a storytelling presentation by teacher Lila Moreno's students. Gillian DeStefano and Ciara Durcan created their own tale based on Humpty Dumpty.

The Pearl River Board of Education also welcomed Kristen Sammon, a new student representative to the board and accepted the resignation of Pearl River High School English teacher Lauren Piccinich, who is leaving to take over as assistant principal at Carmel High School.
