Pearl River Girls Lacrosse Falls on Senior Day
Albertus Magnus won at Pearl River, 12-8, Monday.
Pearl River honored its seniors before Monday's 12-8 loss at home to Albertus Magnus.
It was the latest setback in a difficult season for the Pirates, who are 4-12 heading into the Section 1 playoffs. The girls lacrosse pairings meeting will be held Tuesday. Pearl River will most likely be in a play-in game Wednesday.
"It's been rough for the kids," Pearl River Head Coach Laurie Mayernik said. "It's been rough for me. It's been a hard year, but these seniors have really stepped up and improved this program."

"Maybe it wasn't her best year, but for the last four years she has kept us in everything. Delia has been fantastic," Mayernik said. "For the last three years, she has been, in my opinion, the No. 1 goalie in Rockland County."
Mayernik spoke about Reichert's misfortune missing much of the season with illness and injury and how well Guerci and Bosco work together on defense. She called Noonan a "dynamo" and spoke of the challenges her daugther Jessica faced.
"It's been the greatest experience of my life being able to coach my daughter," said Laurie Mayernik, who is retiring after the season. "I have to give her credit for what she's had to endure with her mother as coach, especially this year. She's one of the strongest people I've met. She never let it get her down on the field."
Albertus Magnus's Mikaela Cannell did much of the damage against Pearl River Monday, scoring four goals and assisting on another. Maddison Kendoth added three goals and an assist.
Noonan and Kayla Moreau each scored three goals for the Pirates.
