Pearl River Hockey Dominates Early, Beats Nyack/TZ

Pearl River built a seven-goal lead on the way to an 8-2 ice hockey victory over Nyack/Tappan Zee Saturday at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey. 

Kevin Murphy racked up five points on three goals and two assists for the Pirates (7-1). Max McGee and Tommy Murphy each had two goals and an assist. Michael Galgano scored a goal and Pat Burns, Gary Healy and Owen McGee had assists for Pearl River. 

Brian Bermingham scored both goals for Nyack/TZ (1-4). Joe Clancy recorded assists on both scores, which came in the third period, and Conor Foley had one assist. 

The Pirates outshot the Ice Hawks, 48-18. Pearl River goalie Sam Coughlin made 12 saves on 13 shots before Joe Mayernik took over for him during the third period.

Pearl River will play Monroe-Woodbury 4 p.m. Sunday at Sport-O-Rama. Nyack/Tappan Zee's next contest is 6:05 p.m. Wednesday against Clarkstown at the Palisades Center Ice Rink.
