The Rotary Scholarship Fund of Pearl River gave out $50,000 in scholarships to 20 high school and college students from Pearl River during a ceremony Thursday evening at the Pearl River Public Library.
"I recently went on the computer and did some research, and I can't find another Rotary Club in the country who gives out this kind of money every year," said Rotary Club of Pearl River President John Buonadonna. "No one comes close."
The Pearl River Rotary Scholarship Foundation has given awards to hundreds of students since it was established in 1988. This year, each student received a check for $2,500, which is to be used to continue his or her education after high school.
