Pearl River's Current, Previous Superintendents Team Up for Parent Workshop

Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano and retired Superintendent Dr. Frank Auriemma will present "Sending Your Child Off to College: It's Not High School" 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the district administration building.

Retired Pearl River School District Superintendent Dr. Frank Auriemma will return to team with current Superintendent Dr. John Morgano for a parenting workshop focused on preparing for college.

Auriemma and Morgano have run the workshop "Sending Your Child Off to College: It's Not High School" before. They wlll address the subject again 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the district administration building on Crooked Hill Road. 

Both Morgano and Auriemma have taught at the college level and both have been through the experience of helping their own children go away to school. They draw on both of those experiences for the Parent University, which is free and open to all parents. No registration is required. The Pearl River PTAs are co-sponsoring this workshop.

Auriemma and Morgano will discuss topics including adjusting to the college academic challenges, rommate issues, relationship issues, fitting in, getting children to solve their own problems, calling home too often, not calling home enough, campus safety and returning home to visit. 

There will be time for questions.
