The Pearl River Board of Education opened its regular meeting last week with a public hearing on the district code of conduct for the 2013-14school year, which can be found through the district website here.
The changes from the previous code are in bold. Pearl River Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Sue Wheeler gave a brief summary of the changes, many of which were made to comply with New York's anti-bullying law, the Dignity for All Students Act.
The school board also approved 1.5 percent salary increases for Wheeler, Director of Human Resources and Community Services Diana Musich and Director of Facilities Robert Nelan. The increase is smaller than a year ago, when they received two percent increases. Superintendent ofSchools Dr. John Morgano did not take a salary increase for 2013-14 at his own request.
The school board also approved a number of annual personnel appointments during Tuesday's reorganization meeting. Morgano pointed out that none of stipends related to those positions increased.
The next Pearl River School District Board of Education meeting is 7:30 p.m. July 30 in the district administration building on Crooked Hill Road.
