Pearl River Sports: Softball, Girls Lacrosse Fall to Rival Tappan Zee

The Pearl River baseball team's back-and-forth battle with Clarkstown South remained tied at 8-8 through eight innings when it was called due to darkness Tuesday at Pearl River.

The game started at 4:15 p.m. and the eighth inning was completed just after 7 p.m. No word yet if the game will be completed.

The Pearl River softball team's game at Suffern that was suspended with the score tied last week will not be completed. Head Coach Carisa Gaylardo said it will remain a tie. 

Tuesday's results

• Baseball: Pearl River 8, Clarkstown South 8 (suspended after eight innings due to darkness)
• Girls lacrosse: -- Jess Mayernik scored three goals for the Pirates, who scored three in the final five minutes to make the game close.
• Golf: -- Kevin Deegan shot the low score of the day, 37, for Pearl River at Blue Hill Golf Course. 
• Softball: -- Paulina Gutkin gave up only an unearned run and Megan Trozzo was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI as the Dutchmen defeated the Pirates for the first time since 2007.

• Girls lacrosse: Mamaroneck at Pearl River, 11 a.m.

• Baseball: Pearl River vs. North Rockland at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, 3 p.m.
