Police Probe Fatal Crash In Blauvelt
The chain collision closed the intersection of Route 303 and East Erie Road for several hours.
BLAUVELT, NY — A Blauvelt resident died in a car crash at the intersection of Route 303 and East Erie Street on Monday.
Orangetown police said at about 5 p.m a Mack truck northbound on Route 303 and a Subaru Forester westbound on Erie Street collided in the intersection, and the Subaru then crashed into a southbound Ford van that was in the left turn-only lane on Route 303.
The Subaru's driver, Seymour Whynman, 83, and a female passenger, were taken to Nyack Hospital by the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps. Whynman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

For several hours during accident reconstruction and cleanup, Route 303 was closed from Spruce Street to Green Bush Road, and Erie Street was closed from Green Bush Road to Moison Road.
Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information to call the Orangetown police at 845-359-3700.
