Rockland BOCES Students Win at SkillsUSA NY Competition

Two students from Rockland BOCES took the first place finish in the 50th Annual SkillsUSA State Conference.

WEST NYACK, NY -- Two students from Rockland BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) took the first place finish in the 50th Annual SkillsUSA State Conference and Skills Championships. Congratulations go to Keri Tanner (Pearl River High School) and John-Thomas (JT) Mancino (Clarkstown North High School) in the Banner Contest.

Top technical students from across New York State gathered for the competition, held at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse from April 27 through April 29. Twenty-nine Rockland BOCES students from 9 area high schools competed in areas such as culinary arts, TV/video production, 3-D visualization and animation, criminal justice, cosmetology and other careers that represent the courses offered at CTEC. The scope of the contests included an intense practical hands-on component as well as a written knowledge test. Kudos to Keri, JT and all participating CTEC students.
