Rockland Sons of Italy Recognize Students Learning Italian

Rockland Sons of Italy recognized three students studying Italian at Tappan Zee High School with a monetary donation and dinner.

From The Rockland Sons of Italy Lodge 2176: The Rockland Sons of Italy Lodge 2176 recognizes students each month who study the Italian language at area schools. The students are presented with a monetary gift at a monthly dinner hosted by the Lodge members. To date they have honored over 26 students.

On April 26th, the Lodge held another dinner honoring the following students: Stephen Chin, Julia Fears and Zoe Telenick, all from Tappan Zee High School.

The event took place at the Lodge location on Van Wyck Road in Blauvelt, NY. On hand were Lodge President Michael Guzzino and Student of the Month Founder and past Lodge president Nick Sfraga, Richard Sica Co-Chairman of the Scholarship Awards Committee for Lodge 2176, and 60 attendees which included family of the students and Lodge members.

The Rockland Lodge 2176 of the Order of The Sons of Italy in America was established in 1966 with the goal of enhancing the image of people of Italian descent and has grown into one of the most active organizations in the area. The Lodge will host the 7th Annual Italian Feast and Carnival, one of Rockland County’s largest events, September 14 – 17, 2017. In addition to giving scholarship to students, funds raised through various events are donated to several charitable organizations in and around the area.
