It began over 50 years ago when a 16 year old young lady named Paula Bohovesky was cruelly, viciously, inhumanly murdered by two men who frustratedly failed in their attempts to sexually assault her in a dark alley just one block from her home. They crushed her skull with a rock and stabbed her to death in anger and frustration. Both had criminal records.
Both were captured the day after by the local police, given a capable defense in a fair trial and sentenced to prison for 25 years to life subject to parole. There was nothing doubtful about who did what and why.
Both are now free on Parole to live their lives among us. This is cruelty for the victim's family, especially Paula's Mother who thinks, dreams, remembers with painful sorrow of her only daughter. She is serving a life sentence knowing that her beloved daughter's killers might very will be enjoying a enjoyable life.
My tenet rises every time I see my daughter, who was a classmate of Paula. I see what a joyful life she enjoys - college, marriage, Motherhood, life, everything that was stolen from Paula.

This is an injustice. I believe in second chances for crimes that do not involve ending another person's life for no profound reason. I do not believe in physical punishment or the death penalty. I believe criminal murderers should remain incarcerated for life.
As you read this, more Paula stories are happening more often resulting from very unwise government policies which you undoubted have read about. But you don't often read about the unspoken pain of the loved ones of the murdered. I hope all relevant elected Government Representatives will think about this. Sometimes what is thought to be enlightened compassion and justice can be pain and injustice.
