Two Storms Could Hit As Week Ends: What To Expect In The Hudson Valley

Here's the latest on the end-of-April showers.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Get outside on Thursday, because rain is in the forecast for the following four days in the Hudson Valley.

AccuWeather forecasters predicted the precipitation will mostly arrive with two storms, the second one the stronger.

Hudson Valley Weather was cautious about the potential for a weak coastal storm Friday. "That track is still a bit uncertain, so we'll have updates as we get closer to the end of the week," said Bill Potter.

On Friday, rain and stiff winds could raise seas and surf in Long Island Sound, said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. "East to southeast winds along the mid-Atlantic coast will average 15-25 mph, but gusts will range between 30 and 50 mph at the storm’s peak late this week."

A portion of the mid-Atlantic coast would likely be hit with a second round of strong winds, rough surf, above-normal tides and beach erosion Sunday night, he said.

"Travel in the upper portion of the mid-Atlantic and New England could be a mess from Sunday night to Monday if an atmospheric river develops and fully engages with the storm," he said. "Only if the storm is slow to strengthen might much of the mid-Atlantic be spared the heaviest rain and strongest winds. In that case, New England may still be in the storm's full fury."
