90th Annual Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Feast Kicks Off Tonight

The Feast runs from July 11 to July 15.

People will come to Verplanck from as far as the Bronx and New Jersey this week for five nights of festivities, music, games, rides, fireworks, parades and more. It all starts tonight on 8th Street.

The 90th Annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. and runs until midnight. The event runs every day at those times at 8th Street and Broadway in Verplanck, and culminates in a much-anticipated fireworks show at 11 p.m. Sunday.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a non-profit organiztion estabilished in 1922 by a handful of Italian immigrants from Calabria, Italy, most of whom worked at a quarry in Verplanck. The Society has grown from that to a group with 135 members and a Ladies Auxiliary with more than 30 members. Organizers proudly throw the feast every year to keep their heritage alive and raise funds for their organization, which go towards charity and community outreach events throughout the year. The Feast is the Society’s one fundraising event every year and is the oldest running of its kind in the Hudson Valley. View a video on what it is all about
