Hudson Valley Hospital Center has canceled its monthly Farmer’s Market scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 due to the forecast of severe storms for that day.High winds and flooding are predicted as a result of Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to hit our area starting on Sunday with the worst of the storm expected to arrive late Monday through Tuesday.

“Our focus right now it to prepare for the storm and make sure that we are ready to handle anything that may come our way,’’ said Hudson Valley Hospital Center Hospital President John Federspiel. “We certainly would not encourage anyone to come out in severe weather.’’
Federspiel said that the Hospital is reviewing disaster preparedness plans and making sure that backup generators are working properly if there is a power outage. Staffing levels are also being reviewed and plans being put in place so staff can spend the night at the Hospital if needed.

He said that monthly Farmer’s Market that has been hosted by Hudson Valley Hospital Center since June would return on November 20 – the final date for this year.
