Breast Cancer Month, Vote for Kelemen’s App, Italian Jazz Days
Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, Sept. 30 to Oct.2.

1.   October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Yesterday we shared a story that listed breast cancer events in the area. If you are organizing or participating in an event that is not on the list please add it here. Also, we would love to share your story. Are you a survivor? Do you have a story to share? Patch wants to give you a place to inspire and encourage each other. Send us your photos of those 5ks, pink parties, dog walks and luncheons.

2.   Today is the Last Day to Vote for Dr. Kelemen’s Breast Cancer App
A breast cancer Smartphone application developed by Dr. Pond Kelemen of the Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Breast Center may be developed by the American Medical Association. The app would be helpful for physicians in assessing breast cancer risk. Today is the last day to vote for the app to win. More information .

5.   VA Automated Health Benefits
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has automated its online Health Benefits Renewal (10-10EZR) form as part of its ongoing effort to streamline access to benefits. Veterans are asked to submit online forms that update their personal, insurance and financial information. Click for more information.
