Columbus Day Carnival, Politics on Patch, Back to School, 911 Golf Tourney Deadline
Here are five things you need to know today, Oct. 6.

1.   Get to Know Your Candidates
Last night we posted the a Q&A with Democratic candidate for Common Council Kathleen Talbot. We will bring you the rest of the Dem and GOP candidates' responses over the next two weeks. The Nov. 8 election is fast approaching.
2.   Ray Blue at PMS
Jazz musician Ray Blue will perform his musical story, The Dreamer-A Silent Warrior for students at Peekskill Middle School today. The performance is a story with music about courage, values, commitment, family, community and having a vision. Blue will be performing it at other schools and venues throughout the area.
Peekskill Celebration will hold a Columbus Weekend Carnival at the Riverfront Green, starting today and running through Oct. 10. Hours vary depending on day. There will also be wristband times tonight and in the afternoon on Saturday. 4.   911 First Responders Golf Tournament Deadling 10-7
To register for the Town of Cortlandt’s 2011 First Responders Golf Outing, to be held Oct. 17, call the Recreation Department at 914-734-1050. All proceeds will go towards the BCC 911 Memorial. The deadline to register is this Friday, Oct. 7.
5.   Back to School Night Â
Peekskill Middle School will host Back to School night at 7 p.m.
