Columbus Day, Entergy Drills, Post on Patch Video
Here are five things you need to know today, Oct. 10.

1. No Common Council Today
City Hall is closed for Columbus Day. So the Peekskill Committee of the Whole and Common Council meetings will be held tomorrow at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
2. Happy Columbus Day
Today is the celebration of when Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas on Oct. 12, 1492. Public schools and government buildings, including the post office, are closed.
Entergy will be conducting security training drills during the day and in the evening Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. You may hear simulated weaponry that sounds like actual gunfire. The drills began last week. IPEC will be conducting the same training drills next, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as well. We will remind you.
4. Video Instructions to Post on Patch
We always encourage our users to post your own photos and videos on Patch. Many of you do and we appreciate the contribution and are glad you use our site to help share your important information. If you have had any problems figuring out how to post on Patch, check out this step-by-step instructional video by Patch contributer Sean Gallagher.
5. Indian Summer Continues
The National Weather Service reports another day of 80 degree temperatures and sunshine. Throughout the week the temperature will steadily drop down to the upper 60s, with clouds moving in on Tuesday night.
