PEEKSKILL-CORTLANDT, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Katz, a friend and coach, who nominated Bobby of Peekskill-Cortlandt.

How do you know the star local student?

Friend/coaching

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Bobby is extraordinary, he is always happy to help others, volunteers, great student and a star athlete cross country. Bobby, who already had three major-meet first-place finishes this fall, won the 137-runner boys varsity I race starting a kick 500-meters from the finish to move from third place to first. His 16:34.8 time was his best ever at Bowdoin. He coaches a rec basketball team of ninth to 12th graders being a junior himself. He gave up play time to ensure others had it. In a time when finding others to volunteer, Bobby and his family always come through.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Compassionate.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Bobby!
