Convicted Criminal Arrested for Cocaine, Vicious Pit Bull, Drunk and Asleep at Wheel

Convicted Narcotics Criminal on Probation Arrested for Cocaine

On Sept. 14 at 6:54 p.m. Omar Travis, 44, of Peekskill was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor on N. James Street by Officer Matt Basso.

Travis was charged following a traffic stop during which he was found to be in possession of six baggies of powder cocaine. Travis attempted to flee and was placed into custody after struggling with officers. He was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court. Travis’ Parole Officer was notified of the arrest as he was recently released to their supervision after serving several years for narcotics possession.

Vicious Pit Bull on John Street

On Sept. 18 Kareem Williams, 34, of Peekskill, was charged with Harboring an unlicensed/unvaccinated dog, a misdemeanor, on the 600 block of John Street by Officer Leo Dylewski.

Police responded to Williams’ residence after a report of a domestic dispute. On their arrival, Officer Doug LaPerche was entering the residence when he was attacked by Williams’ pit bull. LaPerche sustained several puncture marks and lacerations, and fell down a flight of stairs while wrestling with the dog causing him to injure his knee. The dog, which police learned has bitten several people, is being held pending further investigation. Williams was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Peekskill City Court on Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. LaPerche has been removed from duty while he recovers from his injuries.

Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest

On Sept. 15 at 8:35 p.m. Michael Williams, 18, of Peekskill, was charged with disorderly conduct, a violation, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor on the 900 Block of Constant Ave.

Williams was taken into custody after police responded to a report of an altercation and found Williams combative and screaming in the middle of the roadway. Officers attempted to calm him down however he continued to scream and threatened the officers. Williams resisted the officers’ attempts to take him into custody and was additionally charged with resisting arrest. Williams was released on his own recognizance after his arraignment in Peekskill City Court the following afternoon.

Croton Man Drunk and Asleep at Wheel

Jose Guzman-Camacho, 25, of Croton, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sept. 18 on Route 9 at Main Street at 4:35 a.m.

Officers responding to a report of a wrong way driver on Route 9 (south in the northbound lane) found Guzman-Camacho passed out at the wheel of a vehicle parked facing south in the northbound lane of traffic on Route 9 in the vicinity of the Main St. exit in Peekskill. Guzman-Camacho was awoken after several minutes and charged with DWI after failing several field sobriety tests. Guzman-Camacho was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.
