Efforts for Bear Mountain Parkway Median Continue; Aponte Deployed; Grad Pics

1. Peekskill Common Council and Committee of the Whole Meeting
The COW meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and Common Council meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. Continued review of the firehouse DEIS is on the agenda for the work session. A memo from Director of City Planning to Acting City Manager (included in the meeting documents here) indicates that staff suggests the City Council should hold a special meeting July 9 to declare the DEIS as complete and to set a public hearing on the DEIS and on the public purpose of the project under Eminent Domain Procedure Law.

3. Bear Mountain Parkway Petition

The Town of Cortlandt has been working with the mother of who was killed in a car accident on the Bear Mountain Parkway last year, to collect signatures for a petition that asks for support for the Town Board’s efforts to obtain the installation of a median on the parkway. The town will hold a press conference, where they will discuss their efforts near Arlo Lane this afternoon. Check Patch tomorrow for coverage.
4. Special Town Board meeting
The Town of Cortlandt will hold a special town board meeting Tuesday at 4 p.m. for the purpose of voting on the with the Villages of Buchanan and Croton for the 9/11 Remembrance project. The meeting will be held in the Supervisor’s Conference Room at Cortlandt Town Hall.
4. William Aponte Deployed
Patch sends our best wishes to Peekskill’s PFC William Aponte and his family. The PHS 2011 graduate's mother Dawn said he has been deployed in the comments ofwe wrote about William in April. Good luck to William, his unit and all of our troops.
