Cortlandt Man Accused Of Trying To Break Into Deli With Hammer

Police said the man also damaged a security camera while attempting to burglarize the eatery.

CORTLANDT, NY — A Cortlandt man was accused of trying to break into a deli and damaging a security camera.

The New York State Police said, on Friday, Jose L. Erazo, 41, of Cortlandt, was arrested and charged with third-degree attempted burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.

Authorities said, around 5:10 a.m., troopers got a call from Zio’s Italian Deli on Albany Post Road about a burglar alarm and a broken window.

An investigation found Erazo tried unsuccessfully to force entry into the deli with a hammer and then vandalized a security camera.

Erazo was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Court and was sent to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
