Local folks looking to take a break from the heat this week may opt to visit one of the cooling centers in Cortlandt and Peekskill.
The City of Peekskill cooling center, located at the Neighborhood Center (4 Nelson Avenue, in the Richard E. Hayes Building Plazaa), will be open for afternoons and evenings until at least Thursday, officials said Monday afternoon.
In the Town of Cortlandt, the cooling center is located at the Muriel H. Moribito Community Center (29 West Brook Drive in Cortlandt Manor). It's open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.
"Be safe, stay hydrated and keep cool!" Cortlandt officials said via the town's website.
