Cranksgiving In Croton Collects Food For Families In Need

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Looking for a way to help the community while getting fresh air and riding around on a bicycle?

Cranksgiving might just be for you.

It’s a food drive on two wheels. According to organizers, it is part bike ride, part scavenger hunt.

Cranksgiving will be held Saturday, starting at Pedego Croton, 364 S. Riverside Ave. in Croton-on-Hudson. Registration time is noon; the ride begins at 1 p.m. Prizes for best costumes, heaviest cart, completed manifest list and most businesses visited and supported will be handed out at 2:30 p.m.

You’ll need a bicycle (which can be rented), a lock and a bag, along with $15 to $20 to purchase food.

Donations will support Croton Caring Committee.

If you participate, you will be pedaling the stress and trails of the river towns on a self-guided hunt while you search for specific ingredients. Once you’ve collected all the items and arrived at the finish, the feast will be donated to local families in need.

Cranksgiving is a national event occurring in more than 100 cities across the United States and Canada.

All bikes are welcome, and family friendly e-bikes are available for rent for $25 by calling 914-873-8004.

All proceeds from the event will go to Croton Caring Committee.
