Mid-Hudson Bridge Crash Update: Police Release Names of 2 Killed
The crash occurred on the Ulster County side of the bridge.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Police have identified the two people killed in an early morning crash on the Mid-Hudson Bridge Wednesday.
The State Police investigation found that Steven A. Vaughan, 31, of Poughkeepsie, was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima westbound and cross the dividing barrier and struck a 2008 Ford Focus driven by Mark Ashby, 50, of Accord.
The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m.

Both men were dead at the scene. Their bodies were taken to Kingston Hospital by Ulster County Medical Examiner Dr. J. Kurt Grovenburg.
A passenger in the Ford Focus was taken to Westchester Medical Center with facial and internal injuries.

Police said that Vaughan was involved in a stabbing incident in the City of Poughkeepsie prior to the accident.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Town of Lloyd Police Department, City of Pougkeepsie PD, Ulster County Sheriff’s Department, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department, Highland Fire Company, and the NYS Bridge Authority.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Mid-Hudson Bridge has re-opened to traffic after all lanes were shut down because of an early morning accident that killed two people.
The two-car crash happened on the Ulster County side of the span around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Poughkeepsie Journal said, when one car crossed into another lane striking the other car head on.

The Mid-Hudson Bridge is closed in both directions Wednesday morning following a crash that left two people dead.
New York State Police said shortly after 7 a.m. that the bridge will remain closed for at least 90 minutes. When reached by phone just before 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, an official at the bridge's office told Patch it would reopen "probably within an hour."
Dutchess County Emergency Management said in a Facebook post that the closure will be an "extended" one.
