Croton Firefighters Battle 3 Fires Sunday
Firefighting crews spent more than five hours at a multiple alarm house fire in Montrose, and that was the third incident on the same day.
MONTROSE, NY — Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department firefighters had a busy Sunday, dealing with three separate fires.
According to the department’s Facebook account, firefighting crews spent more than five hours Sunday at a multiple alarm house fire in Montrose.
The blaze began shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday with two dozen members either on scene or standing by in the department’s stations.

Earlier in the day, around 2:45 p.m. Croton personnel were sent to an active fire at an elementary school roof in the Mohegan Fire District.
Also, around 7 p.m., Croton firefighters were sent to a fire at a utility pole on Quaker Ridge Road.

Crews found that electrical wires shorted out, causing the top of the pole to catch fire. A small brush fire was put out as well.
The fire incidents were in addition to training by three dozen department members. The interactive class, entitled Fireground Size-up & Strategies, was led by New Haven Fire Department Battalion Chief Miguel Rosado.
No injuries were reported in the firefighting efforts.
