Eight Arrested on Drug Charges in Mohegan Lake Raids

 The Peekskill Police and Westchester County Department of Public Safety raided two Mohegan Lake cottages on Tuesday night and arrested eight people on drug charges; five are from Peekskill and three are from Mohegan Lake. Officers found crack, cocaine, marijuana and pills. Here is the official press release from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety:

Eight people were arrested on drug charges Tuesday night following a raid on two Mohegan Lake residences by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and the Peekskill Police Department.

The raid was the result of an investigation into drug activity at two residences in a community of cottages off Route 6 in the Mohegan Lake section of Cortlandt.  The county police Narcotics Unit obtained search warrants for the two residences after developing information that cocaine and crack cocaine were being sold from 3195 East Main Street and 3211 East Main Street.

A team of narcotics unit officers from the county police and Peekskill police raided the two homes Tuesday at 9:40 p.m.  Eight persons found in the two homes were taken into custody on drug charges after quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana and prescription medication were seized.

The eight suspects were each charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3^rd Degree (Intent to Sell), a felony.

They are: Sylvia Ellis, 32, of Park Street, Peekskill;  Yenny Alfaro, 22, of Regina Ave., Mohegan Lake;  Joe Wilson, 33, of Howard Street, Peekskill; Jamal Wilson, 25, of North James Street, Peekskill;  Clifford Ellis, 38, of Constant Ave., Peekskill;  Carl Culberson, 37, of 3211 East Main Street, Mohegan Lake;  Perry Freeman, 25, of 3195 East Main Street, Mohegan Lake;  and Kevin Ellis, 34, of Park Street, Peekskill.

Two other persons were also arrested during the operation.

Shaniqua Oglesby, 24, of 3195 East Main Street, Mohegan Lake, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a misdemeanor. She was observed by police dropping off her 3-year-old child at the residence and leaving just before the raid occurred. She returned to the scene and was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Westchester County Child Protective Services was notified and is investigating.

Rolando Williams, 28, of Paulding Street, Peekskill, was charged with Menacing 3^rd Degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2^nd Degree and Resisting Arrest, misdemeanors, after he approached the scene, made threatening remarks to officers and interfered with police conducting the raids.

The suspects were arraigned in Croton Village Court on Wednesday and were sent to the county jail in Valhalla without bail pending a court appearance Friday in Cortlandt Town Court.
