"Reaching Through The Shadow" in Cortlandt

A moving program of dramatic photo slides and passionate narrative by accomplished architect/designer James W. Rhodes of Croton-on-Hudson will tell the story of "Reaching Through The Shadow," the Buchanan-Cortlandt-Croton 9/11 Remembrance Memorial planned to be built along the beautiful banks of the Hudson River at Croton Landing.  Sponsored by The Van Cortlandtville Historical Society on Saturday, September 17th, at 2 p.m., at The Little Red Schoolhouse, 297 Locust Ave., Cortlandt Manor, the event is open free to the public.

A witness to the September 11th attack on and collapse of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers ten years ago, Mr. Rhodes will relate his first-hand involvement in the design and creation of this unique and striking memorial plaza of reflection, remembrance and reach for hope for all who were touched by the tragedy of terror.  Mr. Rhodes worked with a 14-foot steel beam remnant from the North Tower to perfect the design.
