DeChristopher Pharmacy closes its doors for good today, Healthy Heart Fair, 9/11 Memorial, Winter Concert, Must-See Thursdays on Patch

1. 9/11 Memorial:
Local officials, firefighters, emergency providers and others will travel to Hanger 17 at JFK today to pick up a salvaged steel girder from the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. The girder will be used for the construction of a memorial to be located at Croton Landing on the Hudson River. Officials from Cortlandt, Corton-on-Hudson and Buchancan will be holding a ceremony at for a viewing of the steel girder at Cortlandt Town Hall at 1 p.m. They invite the public to join them in this ceremony.

The Hendrick Hudson High School orchestra is performing its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.
3.February is American Heart Month:

To raise awareness about ways to promote a healthy heart, Hudson Valley Hospital Center will hold afrom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the hospital at 1980 Crompond Road. The fair will feature blood pressure and cholesterol screenings and information on smoking cessation, wellness coaching, heart healthy cooking and more.
4.DeChristopher's Last Day:
DeChristopher Pharmacy on South St. in Peekskill is closing today after 83 years in business. Owner Harvey Seeley sold his inventory and customer list to the new Walgreens on the corner of Broad and Main streets. He will begin working as a full-time pharmacist at the new store on Monday morning. “I am thrilled to be going to Walgreens and think it will be a great store for the community,” said Seeley, who is looking forward to a normal 40-hour workweek and vacation time.
