4. Looking for Whiz Kids: You might have seen our Whiz Kid feature on Peekskill’s last week. Each Wednesday we will recognize a young member or youth group of the Peekskill-Cortlandt community for his or her achievement. Please send in your nominations – we want to recognize any young person, or youth group (brownie troop, dance crew, sports team, musical group, student organization, etc.) that deserves recognition for something they have achieved. Email your submissions to Elizabeth.giegerich@patch.com, and check the site tomorrow to see this week’s Whiz Kid this week.

5. How to get your kids to eat squash: Patch columnist Amy Baker offers a primer on the many winter squashes available and the perfect muffin recipe incorporating this nutritious seasonal vegetable. But you'll have to come back at 6 p.m. to check it out.
