Why go? It's the inaugural HVYP barbecue, and local folks are invited to attend. The group focuses on community support, education/professional development, public police perspectives and social networking. The suggested donation is $5.
When? 8 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 24)
Where? The Paramount Theater at 1008 Brown Street in Peekskill
Why go? Three comedians will deliver tons of laughs during this show. Each has appeared in a range of venues, including The Tonight Show and tons of comedy clubs across the country.
The Great Divas of Gospel in Concert
When? 4 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 25)
Where? The Beanrunner Cafe at 201 South Division Street in Peekskill
Why go? This female quintet—which pays tribute to a group of women who sang Gospel tunes across the country during a time of discrimination and segregation—is celebrating their 20-year anniversary. Come down for a great show and hear the gospel music that's had an influence on many of today's tunes.
