Hazardous Weather Possible In Hudson Valley Through Saturday
A slow-moving cold front will likely bring a period of moderate to locally heavy rain, including possible thunderstorms, to the region.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There is the possibility of hazardous weather Friday and Saturday around the Hudson Valley.
For Friday, the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
A strong cold front will bring the potential for heavy rain showers and embedded thunderstorm activity late Friday night.

Due to saturated soil conditions and high streamflows in the area, this will present a threat for isolated to scattered instances of flash flooding.
And you can count on more of the same for much of Saturday in the lower Hudson Valley.

In Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties, the hazardous weather outlook is for Saturday, not Friday.
The weather service said a slow-moving cold front will likely bring a period of moderate to locally heavy rain to the region Saturday. There will be some localized flooding where the heaviest rain falls.
Gusty winds are also expected behind the cold front Saturday night through Sunday but are expected to remain below 40 mph.
Here is the forecast for northern Westchester through the weekend from the National Weather Service:
- Friday: Scattered showers. Cloudy, with a high near 70. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Friday Night: Showers. Low around 62. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Temperature rising to near 65 by 9am, then falling to around 60 during the remainder of the day. Southeast wind 6 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
- Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers before 2am. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 47. West wind 11 to 15 mph.
- Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. West wind around 15 mph.
- Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.
- Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.
- Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.
