Hen Hud BOE Elects Briggi as President; Ryan as VP

Mary-Pat Briggi and Laurie Ryan were unanimously elected to their positions for the year 2012-2013.

In unanimous decision, the Hendrick Hudson School District Board of Education elected longtime trustee Mary-Pat Briggi to serve as President of the Board of Education for the 2012-13 school year. Trustees also elected Laurie Ryan to serve as Vice President of the Board of Education.

Briggi takes the helm of the Board of Education after 3-term President, Marion Walsh, decided to step down from her leadership role on the Board of Education. “I am grateful to have had the past three years to lead our district and our Board of Education through some uniquely challenging and rewarding times,” commented Walsh. “The time has come for new leadership as the district faces a number of important decisions in the coming months,” she concluded.

Briggi, a 15 year resident of the Hen Hud community,o her third term on the Board of Education this past May. “I am humbled at the opportunity to serve my community and our school district in this new role,” said Briggi. “Over the next twelve months our district will face some important challenges including the search for a permanent Superintendent of Schools. I am excited to lead our Board of Education through this important time and look forward to working with Dr. Monahan, the district administration and staff, and my fellow trustees as we continue to find ways to improve academic achievement and maximize student potential.”

Trustee Ryan has lived in the Hendrick Hudson community for 14 years and in May was elected to her second three-year term on the Board of Education. “I am excited to work with Mary-Pat and the rest of the Board of Education and administration in this new role,” remarked Ryan. “I look forward to new beginnings in the Hendrick Hudson School District,” she concluded.

“I would like to congratulate Mary-Pat and Laurie on their election as President and Vice President. They bring a wide breadth of experience to their leadership roles and I am confident in their ability to lead our schools in the coming months. As longtime community members, they have a rich understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in Hen Hud which will prove invaluable as they work to help address the needs of both our students and community,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian D. Monahan.
