Hen Hud Reaches Settlement Agreement with District Administrators Association

Montrose, NY- The Hendrick Hudson School District Board of Education unanimously ratified a new three year agreement with the District Administrators Association at the June 26, 2012 meeting of the Board of Education. The new agreement, which is effective July 1, 2012- June 30, 2015, is consistent with the district’s approach to ensure that all contracts’ combined annual cost is within the New York State tax cap.

The agreement calls for district administrators to receive a 4.9% (1.7% in year 1, 1.6% in years 2&3) increase over the life of the contract. District administrators have also agreed to increase their contributions to health insurance by 3% through 2015, bringing their total contribution for insurance to 16%.

In a nod to the difficult financial circumstances the district faced, administrators agreed in May of 2011 to reopen their contract and forgo pay raises for the 2011-12 school year. “The District Administrators Association lead by example as to the importance of shared sacrifices during these difficult economic times to help preserve jobs and sustain our education program,” remarked outgoing Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel McCann.

“I am gratified we were able to resolve this contract prior to its expiration on June 30,” said McCann. “I would like to thank the DAA leadership for their resolve and cooperation in reaching this agreement. Their leadership helped to reach a responsible resolution that our community can afford, but also acknowledges the immense time and effort our administrators put forth to maintain our rigorous academic program,” he concluded. “On behalf of the Board and the community, I thank the DAA for recognizing the economic realities facing the District and to continue to work diligently to improve our District and to ensure excellence in all areas,” said Marion Walsh, Board of Education President.

“The District Administrators Association was pleased to be able to negotiate a fair settlement that takes into account the fiscal realities of the district as well as the needs of our members. We believe that this three-year agreement is equitable and fair. In the spirit of compromise our unit made concessions that will enable the district to move forward with its excellent programs and also retain key administrative staff. We thank Dr. McCann and the Board for working with us to bring this negotiation to a quick closure,” said DAA Co-President Mathew Swerdloff.
