Hen Hud’s Got Talent, Jack Murphy Honored, Craft Week Kick-Off

Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, Oct. 14-16.

1.    Hen Hud’s Got Talent
Go check out the talented Hen Hud students in tonight’s benefit show at 7:30. Students will win cash prizes and all proceeds will go towards HHHS’s choral program. More here.



Local author Jean Moczarski will be signing copies of her biography of Joe Deutsch, local Hudson Valley photographer. Both she and Deutsch will be at Homestyle Desserts between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. this Saturday for a book signing. Stop by to meet author and subject, and you may as well pick up a sweet treat from Homestyle while you are there.

3.    Chester H. Smith Award Goes to Jack Murphy
Congratulations to Jack Murphy for being awarded the prestigious Chester A. Smith award this Saturday night. Murphy is well known for his work as the editor of Peekskill's Evening Star newspaper, for founding Peekskill Celebration, and his active role in the city's Irish community and many other organizations. He will receive the 17th annual Chester A. Smith award at the Field Library at 7 p.m.

4.    American Craft Week Kick Off
Check out some cool pottery at the Peekskill Hat Factory’s Clay Studios this weekend. To kick off American Craft Week the PCS is showcasing and selling 11 local and area artists unique work. More .

5.    Cartwheel-a-thon for Wounded Warriors
On Sunday, Oct. 16 Gymnastics City is hosting its 26th annual cartwheel-a-thon for Wounded Warriors. Details on this exciting event and other weekend activities and fundraisers .
